Level: Beginners, New to Clay, Work with ~1 lb of clay
This class is perfect for those that are ready to experience the entire ceramic process for the first time, or a beginner that just needs a refresher. In this class, we will cover basic studio safety, how to wedge clay and weigh out clay for different types of vessels, and practice throwing various types of basic shapes such as bowels and cups.
Level: Comfortable with 1-2 lbs of clay. Work with 2-4 lbs of clay
In this follow up class, we will work with more clay and create more advanced forms. Students should be comfortable with the basic ceramic process and ready to work with larger forms. In this class we will work bigger and taller, and add handles and lids to our pieces.
Level: Comfortable with 1-4 lbs of clay. Work with 5+ lbs of clay
We will work on throwing bigger and aim to be able to throw with 5+lbs of clay consistently and pull up a cylinder 12″ tall.
Level: All Levels
Learn the the traditional techniques for creating functional ceramics without the use of a pottery wheel. Learn how to pinch, coil, and slab build projects such as bowls, mugs & cups, plates & dishes and more. Explore surface decoration and texture using a variety of techniques.
