Our small in-house gallery showing our permanent collection or a special exhibit.
The mini studio for special classes and events.
This is where most of the work happens. The studio has 20+ wheels from a variety of different manufacturers. There is also a slab roller and extruder. Community tools, member shelves, glazing area, sink, clay reclaim, wedging table all happen in this large room. Please make sure that you are familiar with and authorized to use any equipment in this room that you plan on using.
Wheels: Make sure you are familiar with how to use the wheel. When done, remember to turn off the wheel and place everything in their original position after thorough cleaning. Mop and sweep the surrounding area.
Ware Carts: Make sure to look at the cart label to put your pieces on the correct cart.
Clay Reclaim: Place clay scrapes here to be reclaimed instead of into the trash or down the sink. Make sure it’s clay only!
Wedging Table: Height adjustable wedging table. The wedging table is made of plaster. Do not use metal tools on the wedging table. Do not mix dark clay and light clay side.
Do your glazing here. In addition to a number of glazes, we also have oxides and stroke ‘n coat glazes available. Please use the glaze sink to wash all tools before doing a final cleaning at the main studio sink. The glaze sink recycles the water to prevent glaze materials from going down the drain.
Studio clay and other materials are stored here, plus community studio tools. We also use this area for carts and works as it’s getting ready for the kiln room.
The kiln room houses many heavy machinery that can be dangerous. Please do not use any tools that you have not been authorized to operate. Do not open kiln doors that are open or close kiln doors that are open. If you think something is wrong, please inform a studio technician. Kiln room is also where we do clay recycling, and there are some community power tools such as the bench grinder. Access the outside work area through the kiln room.
The studio has two gender neutral restrooms for our guests.
The kitchen has basic appliances for heating up your food or water. We also have snacks and soda for sale. Take a break from clay in the kitchen. Please keep the kitchen clay free and dispose of all food waste in outside bins.
