“The utility of the clay pot is a function of the nothingness inside it”

Josh MargolisFounder of DAF
Operations Manager

Clara Day

With over 15 years of dedicated experience in ceramic arts, Clara brings a refined, technical, and community-centered approach to the wheel. Originally from Taiwan, her journey with clay began in the historic pottery centers of her home country, where she developed a deep appreciation for the balance of traditional craftsmanship and modern utility. After relocating to California, she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Ceramic, where she focused on the intersection of industrial design and traditional hand-building techniques.
Clara is committed to creating a practical, welcoming space for makers of all levels. She rejects the “preciousness” often associated with fine art, instead focusing on the tactile joy of the material and the communal experience of the studio. Her goal is to create a studio environment that is accessible and fosters creative growth.

Warehouse Manager

Jack Floyd

Floyd is the heart and steel of the studio’s back-of-house operations, serving as the resident Warehouse Manager. Floyd has an unmatched passion for pottery logistics. His signature fork arms are not just for lifting heavy sacks of clay and stacks of greenware; they are also expertly gentle when navigating the tight aisles between drying racks and full kiln shelves.

With the patience of a seasoned ceramicist, Floyd manages all inbound materials (clay, glaze chemicals, tools) and outbound finished goods (those precious fired pieces). He’s a stickler for kiln loading schedules and ensures every piece—from delicate teacup to massive sculpture—is accounted for and stored at the perfect humidity level. His motto? “Keep the clay moving and the potters creating!” He uses his distinctive pallet jack handle (which doubles as his tail!) to steer the studio’s workflow with surprising finesse, proving that even the toughest warehouse tools have a gentle side when it comes to art.

Potter

Harry

You're a Potter, Harry!

Albie Spindlewick is the youngest member of the studio, proving that even a young wizard needs a creative outlet away from charms and potions. At just ten years old, Albie brings a surprising concentration to the pottery wheel, trading his wand for a wire cutter and a carving tool. He’s often seen pushing his round glasses up his nose, completely absorbed in the calming, grounding practice of turning mud into art.

His wizarding robe serves as his favorite apron, though it usually ends up covered in clay splatters and stray bits of glaze. Albie’s specialty is crafting intricate, slightly lopsided “cauldron mugs” and small, oddly shaped pots he claims are perfect for holding magical ingredients. He believes that the elemental magic of earth and water, combined with the heat of the kiln, is just as powerful as any spell learned at school. Albie’s simple joy in creation is infectious, reminding the other potters that every great masterpiece starts with a little bit of mud and a lot of focus.

Master Potter

Silas Clayborne

I am AI slop!

Silas Clayborne isn’t just a potter; he’s a legend whispered among apprentices, known across the land as the true Master of Earth and Fire. With a grounding presence and hands perpetually dusted with the fine powder of kaolin, Silas commands the ceramic wheel like a maestro conducting an orchestra.

He believes the soul of every vessel lies not just in its shape, but in the memory of the hands that formed it. Silas specializes in high-fired stoneware—pieces so durable and perfectly balanced they feel ancient and modern all at once. His famous “River Flow” glaze, a swirling mix of deep blues and greens, is a closely guarded secret, said to capture the reflection of the morning sky on moving water. Though his manner is quiet and patient, he holds apprentices to an exacting standard, knowing that true craft requires discipline, respect for the raw materials, and an endless pursuit of perfection.

Detective, Reception

Pikachu

Pika Pika!

Pip (short for Pikachu) is the surprising and surprisingly skilled Resident Potter at Clay All Day Pottery! While he may be a little larger than your average Pikachu, his big heart and even bigger dedication to the craft make him an indispensable part of the team. You’ll often find Pip perched intently at his pottery wheel, his rosy cheeks glowing not just from his electric energy, but from the focused effort of centering clay.

Despite his size, Pip’s movements are remarkably precise, guiding the spinning clay into elegant forms with his nimble paws. He specializes in creating whimsical, nature-inspired pieces, often incorporating subtle lightning bolt motifs into his designs. When a particularly challenging pot emerges, you might catch a faint crackle of electricity, a tiny spark of triumph! Pip handles his finished creations with utmost care, always making sure they’re perfectly placed for drying before their journey to the kiln. His cheerful disposition and surprising artistic talent make him a beloved figure in the studio, proving that anyone, no matter their species or size, can find their passion in the world of pottery.
